The Francis Howell School District has announced the hiring of Sonya Borders as the new dean of students at Francis Howell Central High School, effective July 1, 2020. Borders is replacing Dr. Bart Denbow, who will now serve as an assistant principal, filling the position vacated by the recent retirement of Dave Stofer.

Borders is currently an English teacher at Liberty High School in Wentzville and looks forward to joining the staff at FHC. “As a Spartan, I am most excited for the opportunity to work with families, students, and staff to promote and advocate for the best educational experience we can envision,” she said. “Francis Howell has an impressive reputation for excellence in education and care for the community. I am enthusiastic about supporting Francis Howell Central in our pursuit to provide high-quality education and goodwill to those we serve.”

With 23 years of experience as an educator, Borders has taught in the Leopold, Twin Rivers, Rockwood, and Wentzville school districts. She has served as the English department chair and a summer school administrative intern.

Borders received a bachelor’s degree in secondary education-English from Southeast Missouri State University, and a master’s in education administration and a specialist’s degree in curriculum and instruction both from Missouri Baptist University. She is currently working on her doctorate leadership in teaching and learning at MBU.
