The Board of Education welcomed FHC senior, Allen Butterfield, as the student representative for the January Board meeting. Throughout his high school career, the ambitious Spartan has taken advantage of the many opportunities provided by FHC and the District.

While taking FHC’s most rigorous courses, he also makes time to be involved in several clubs, including NHS, Pep Club, Central Outreach, and the Student Athletic Leadership Council. As a member of the Pep Club, he has served as the Master of Ceremonies for many of the all-school pep assemblies.

Butterfield is also a dedicated athlete. He has participated in many different sports, including cross country, soccer, and baseball. He earned all-conference academic awards in soccer and baseball and earned second team all-conference in baseball.

When he’s not on the field, he can be found on the sidelines as a student cheer section leader at sporting events. His contribution to the section has resulted in many positive referee letters and visitor compliments.

Butterfield is well-loved by the FHC community. He has won a Silver Shield award and was voted homecoming king. “He is an intelligent, caring young man,” shared FHC principal Dr. Sonny Arnel. “FHC has been impacted by his passion and drive.”

This year, Butterfield started a bible study group that meets before school and has attracted many students. Outside of FHC, he is also a member of Breakdown STL, which participates with area high schools to empower teens to make positive life choices.

Butterfield loves working with kids and teens and plans to attend Missouri State in the fall to pursue a degree in education. While only a senior in high school, he already has big dreams for the future and hopes to teach at the high school level, as well as coach baseball someday. With his passion and dedication, he will certainly go far and make his mark on a whole new generation of students.
