FHC Student Allison Mayfield Shines at SkillsUSA

Allison Mayfield, a senior at Francis Howell Central High School (FHC), is a Lewis & Clark Career Center student who earned the right to travel to Louisville, Kentucky, on June 19-24 for SkillsUSA’s 53rd annual National Leadership and Skills Conference. Mayfield placed fourth nationally in the Basic Health Care category, competing against other first place state medalists from across the country. The conference is the world’s largest showcase of skilled trade competitions with more than 15,000 students, teachers, education leaders, and representatives from 600 national corporations, trade associations, businesses, and labor unions participating in the event.

This invitation-only conference was for first place state medalists in 100 competition areas for career and technical students. Mayfield qualified after earning a first-place gold medal at the Missouri state competition in April. She was a student in the Health Occupations program at Lewis & Clark during the 2016-17 school year.

“I think Missouri can be very proud of Alli’s efforts at nationals,” said Dr. Andrew M. Stewart, Director of the Lewis & Clark Career Center. “She made an incredibly strong showing in a high-pressure environment. Her future in the healthcare field is promising.”

The Lewis & Clark Career Center provides career and technical education for St. Charles County juniors and seniors from all five school districts in St. Charles County. For more information, visit
