2017 Fall Final Exam Schedule

Spartan Nation,

We are closing the first semester of the 2017-18 school year within a few weeks and I am excited about the quality of education that is occurring. We are finishing strong and your children are continuing to receive a quality education from our incredible staff. To assist us in “finishing strong,” I wanted you to have the information listed below.  Please review the information and discuss it with your son and/or daughter.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

  • Final Exams will be given on Dec. 19 through 21.  On Dec. 19, first, second, and sixth, period final exams will be given and school will dismiss at the REGULAR TIME (2:20 PM). On Dec. 20, third and fourth period final exams will be administered.  On Dec. 21, fifth and seventh period exams will be given.  School dismisses at 11:30 AM on Dec. 20 and 21.
  • Please note that on final exam days, parents MUST call the school if a student is absent.  Such calls need to be made BEFORE 10:30 AM. Final exams that are missed due to an excused absence must be taken during the final exam make up schedule.
  • Be sure to remember that students having unexcused/undocumented absences on any final exam day may receive penalties on all exams given that day. That is something we would like to avoid at all costs. Missing 20% of your semester grade hinders a student’s opportunity for success.
  • The dates for the EXAM MAKE-UP SCHEDULE are:
    • Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1:30 – 4:30 PM
    • Thursday, Jan. 4, 2:30 – 4:30 PM
    • Friday, Jan 5, 2:30 – 4:30 PM
  • Requests for early exams are granted for extremely significant emergency purposes only and must be approved by Dr. Arnel.  Requests for early final exams must be made no later than five school days BEFORE the first day of final exams. That would be Tuesday, Dec. 12.
  • To protect the learning environment for all students during final exams, the Attendance Office will not be able to call into classrooms or interrupt classes in any way.  Any passes for early dismissal must be called in by a parent well in advance. Students will only be called to an office in between classes to pick up passes, messages, or anything else that may be dropped off by parents. Thanks for your assistance in creating a wonderful learning atmosphere for our students.
  • Please make sure that your son or daughter arrives on time to all of their classes during the final exam schedule.  To reduce the amount of interruptions during those high stake tests, we will route any tardy students to the café instead of their testing classroom. They will use that time to review for upcoming finals and be expected to take the final that they were tardy to during the final make-up schedule. It is important that we create the best opportunity we can for student success and a reasonable expectation is that all students are on time for their final exams.
  • Those pupils who are eligible to take make-up final exams should report to Room 003 on the following dates: Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1:30 – 4:30 PM and/or, Thursday, Jan. 4, 2:30 – 4:30 PM, and/or Friday, Jan. 5, 2:30 – 4:30 PM.
  • To protect the testing environment, all exam make-up sessions begin PROMPTLY at their scheduled start time.  Students needing to take exams must be IN THE ROOM BEFORE the scheduled start time.
  • Only pupils who had absences excused by the Attendance Office or have permission granted via their Assistant Principal may take exams on make-up days. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation home after taking make-up exams. Exam-takers should bring at least two No. 2 lead pencils with them for use during testing, as well as calculators, or any other items that may be required for completion of exams.

Between now and the time your student takes their final exams, I encourage you to email or call their teachers for any questions you may have. The use of Infinite Campus is a wonderful resource for you to gauge the academic and attendance current reality of your son or daughter. Our goal is to partner with you to create the most academic success possible for your young adult.  We truly would love to be the best high school in the State of Missouri. Together we can continue that journey.

A printable version of the exam dates is available.

Thanks,

Sonny Arnel Ed.D.,
Principal
